I think Website Temple and Template Action deserve to thrive, but Noam Design is not the best home for them right now. So I’m looking to sell them to a company that can give them the love and attention they deserve.

Background

Website Temple is an all inclusive subscription based service where you can get 100% ready-made unique websites. Web hosting and domain name is included and there’s a very large catalog of pre-built websites of all kind.

Each site is integrated with a comprehensive CMS to easily edit the website and customize it with personalized content.

Website Temple beats website builders, website templates, or hiring your friend’s friend who’s a web designer.

Template Action sells CMS website templates and Flash CMS templates and is geared towards a savvier audience. Template Action is Website Temple’s sister project: it currently offers a segment of Website Temple’s products – but as digital goods available for immediate downloads at a one time fee.

We believe in these 2 projects! But my lifestyle and priorities make it so that I’m not able to dedicate any time or resources towards promoting or improving them.

My efforts are focused on our eCommerce products (mainly through Magentist and Ultimento) and my travel plans for the near future force me to accept the fact that I have to focus.

2. General concept

Website Temple:

The audience for Website Temple is very wide – targeting literally anyone who wants to have a website. The subscription based service is all-inclusive and once the order is placed we set up the new website on our server (and registers the domain name if applicable). It’s a matter of a few minutes altogether. On the user end – once the order is processed, they receive an email with access to their site’s admin panel.

Users pay a monthly fee to use the website + hosting service. To get a sense of the order process you can visit any product page at websitetemple.com and play a bit with the options and checkout process.

Template Action:

The audience here is people who already have a domain name and hosting and who have some experience with the web (are web savvy). Products on Template Action are automatically available for immediate download once the order is complete and customers are pretty much on their own as far as hosting etc… There is a support system integrated into the site but the idea is to limit support to issues with the templates themselves (and not questions related to hosting environment, setup, customization etc) so support load is minimal.

3. Products

We have nearly 100 unique templates/websites across all major web technologies. Each product comes with its very own administration panel (custom Content Management System) and each product has:

• A live preview (for demo)
• Video demonstration of the admin panel
• Quality screenshots
• Extensive product description
• Etc…

All the products are available on Website Temple.

Template Action:

For the moment we’ve put 26 templates on Template Action. All of which have easy-to-follow step by step installation instructions for customers who purchase them.

4. Product prices

Both Website Temple and Template Action have 2 pricing options for each product: a regular price and an exclusive price. But the concepts are very different on each site:

Website Temple:

Users can either purchase the regular recurring subscription – depending on their billing cycle (monthly, quarterly, bi-yearly, or yearly) they get a different price; or they can purchase the product at the “buyout price” in which case they get full ownership over the product and the product is removed from the site.

The average price on Website Temple is $55/mth (average order is $165 because most people sign up for 3 months). The exclusive license is about $3500 (includes hosting).

Template Action:

Users can either purchase the template at the regular price. Or they can also add the unlimited use license to their cart which basically allows them to use the site on an unlimited number of domain names and in which case we also remove the product from Template Action.

The average price on Template Action is about $70 and the exclusive license is $2000.

5. Running the sites

Both sites are fully mature and 100% production ready. They are built with open source technologies and run on an eCommerce platform and is easy to host, maintain, manipulate, and change. Order processing is automated. Here’s some more details:

Website Temple:

For Website Temple, someone needs to process the order and setup the template for the user (and register the domain name if necessary). The whole process is very well documented and only takes a few minutes. We have email templates and automatic responses for customers to ease the communication. Once the order is processed, support is usually minimal since users only have access to their admin panel and little can go wrong there. Website Temple also has its own dedicated support system which users can access via their account centers.

Template Action:

Since everything is automatic on Template Action, the only ongoing tasks is providing support to customers. There is a dedicated support ticket system on the site which users access via their account center. Since Template Action targets savvy users who already have a domain name and hosting service and usually buy a template to customize it for their own specific needs, support load is very small while at the same time it’s a great lead for billable custom requests.

6. Evaluation

Bottom line we need to evaluate the sites in order to determine an acquisition price .

Evaluating the products:

If we take the minimum value for each product we’ll have to use the Template Action exclusive license – which comes to an average of $2060. That does not count all the times the product can be purchased before it is purchased exclusively (which is a lot – usually templates get purchased many, many times before they’re eventually purchased exclusively) and it does not count all the subscription customers from Website Temple which I expect would really be the bulk of the business. This evaluation also doesn’t consider the possibility that the product is purchased exclusively on Website Temple (which is more expensive). Regardless, if we consider a $2060 value for each product – that comes to nearly $200,000.

Evaluating the sites:

Both Website Temple and Template Action are truly unique sites integrated with a myriad of cutting edge features while at the same time being built entirely on open source technologies and platforms (making it really easy to maintain and grow). Each site is integrated with a blog system (CMS Template Help for Template Action and Website Temple Blog for Website Temple) as well as a complete affiliate program that’s 100% production ready with banners, affiliate account and tracking system, etc…

Both Website Temple and Template Action are very valuable sites but it’s difficult to estimate how much they’re worth for an acquisition. We’re open to anything.

Each site is also connected with a unique Twitter account, Facebook account, YouTube channel, etc.

7. Current state

These 2 sites are in preliminary pre-launched state. They don’t generate any income or traffic. Personal reasons make it so that I won’t have the time to properly launch and promote these businesses which is why I decided to sell them. Unfortunately I know it’s also a significant diminishing factor in terms of acquisition price.
