Okay, Noam. I purchased the Ultimento theme about two months ago, but haven’t been able to really do any modifications to it yet, as other outside things have been going on. I’m now trying to scrounge up some time to get things going and get my first ecommerce site up using Ultimento. But with your post here regarding whether or not someone should use Magento, I’m starting to wonder whether it’s right for me. The second and third point above apply to me.

I’m okay technically, but am not a hardcore programmer. So, how would I go about getting a good education on using Magento and how long would it take for me to get a store up and running?

    Noam -

Hey Jack – if you’ve got Ultimento, you don’t need any hardcore programming knowledge to get your eCommerce store up and running really quickly. That’s the beauty of the theme ;) . Just go ahead and install Magento on your server, and use Ultimento’s 1-click installer to setup the Magento theme and the built-in extensions. Then refer to the extensive (and friendly) documentation to customize the content to fit your specific needs and to setup your catalog. It’s really simple.

I wrote this post a few months ago after I got some requests from custom clients who were looking to customize Magento’s core functionality to something very specific but at the same time didn’t have the budget to invest in a good Magento developer even for just a few hours.
