In just 2 years of doing business, Noam Design has become one of the leading web design companies in New York, has completed hundreds of successful projects for clients of all sizes and industries (many of them won web design awards), and has launched a number of innovative web start-ups of its own. All this while working under the constraints of a small business that made it without any investment. Yes, we have accomplished a lot with our talent, determination, confidence, and lots of hard work!

We launched our web design company blog just about 1 year after it all started – so a year ago (the first post is dated 11/18/08). And this is our post number 100! So over the past year, we published an average of 2 posts per week.

Magento is a great platform to design and develop Ecommerce websites. We’ve been working with Magentosince the early days when the platform just came out in early 2008 and have been using it since then. We’ve worked on countless projects that involved customizing Magento, desigining Magento themes, further developing the Magento platform, etc… And we’ve gone a long way! Looking back at some of our Ecommerce projects, I thought it’d be interesting to share 3 web design projects which I feel were defining moments in our Magento development carreer!

1. Our first Magento project was for a company named “Ironwood Communications” which was bought by Direct TV following the successfull launch of the Ecommerce site we developed for them. Check out the project case.

2. After hundreds of Ecommerce web design projects, quickly implementing top quality Magento stores and providing deep Magento customization became like a second nature for us. So we were able to focus more on the promotion aspects of the websites we launched, particularly with SEO. Check out the Magento site we implemented in about 1 week for the largest Tsurumi Pump distributor in the USA!

3. We used Magento on our latest web start-up! We wanted Website Temple to be a cutting edge Ecommerce-based website that would be prepared for growth and we chose the Magento platform to base our work on. It ended up being a very smart move!

Here at Noam Design, we strongly believe that a website is never complete. It’s important to continuously update and maintain your website’s design and content. Since we practice what we preach, we regularly improve on our own website design, to make sure it remains at the top of the web design industry – far ahead of its competitors!

Here are a few of the changes we made in our latest web design update round (make sure to erase the cache of your browser and reload the website first):

We redesigned our “Splash” element! We changed the design of the arrows, added a left arrow and slide functionality, added a loading gif behind the images, added a pagination to ease the navigation through our award winning web design project, and did a few more design twicks.  To view the “Splash” in action you must restart your browser before going to www.noamdesign.com.

We added a Search Function on our extensive Web Design Portfolio page. For example you can now search for websites we’ve designed in specific industries. Since our Portfolio features hundreds and hundreds of Web Design Projects, this was really overdue! The search results page is nicely designed and has the same pagination system we use in a few other places on the site.

We also changed a few things on our home page such as adding a Design Labs box in the right column to link to a page with some old web design experiments. We also improved our already very nice sliding header with some great SEO content (click on the very top of our home page to see it in action).

Thomas Zeumer has partnered with Noam Design to design, develop, and promote TomzWorld – an extensive social networking website dedicated to the world of modeling and linked to an online model academy. We are very excited to have been awarded this great and innovative project – scheduled to be released this summer so stay tuned!

TomzWorld – a temporary (but already exiting!) web page about the project

Great news here at Noam Design: www.unclip.com has arrived! Unclip is a coupon code website that offers thousands discount coupon codes and promotions for hundreds of on-line stores.  As Unclip.com grows, more and more coupons and stores are being added. So unclip.com is a unique website where all the discount codes and coupons available across the internet can be found, searched, and used. Talk about enhancing our online shopping experience!

I highly recommend viewing the project’s case. Unclip is a unique website project and we developed new ways of designing a complex web applications.

Navigating the site is intuitive and browsing Unclip.com’s for discounts/promotions for specific stores or categories is easy.  With the powerful search function, you can search across the entire database for stores/coupons/promotions that match your criteria.

Another great feature of Unclip.com is the Firefox Extension.  When users install the Firefox Extension, a toolbar button is added to their Firefox browser.  Users will be alerted when they visit an on-line store that Unclip.com has coupons for.  Clicking on the toolbar button will display Unclip.com’s top three coupons for the on-line store that they are currently browsing.  From there, the user can choose to visit Unclip.com to view that store’s coupons in more detail.

The website also offers the ability to copy a store’s coupon code into the user’s clipboard. The user is then directed to open that store’s website where he/she can paste the coupon code into the appropriate section. Try it for yourself – it’s much easier to use the site than to explain how it works! (more…)
