Don’t Waste Your Time Signing NDAs

SigningWhen initially talking to potential clients about their project, we are sometimes asked to sign an NDA. In most cases, we don’t like to waste our time signing NDAs early in the process of getting acquainted with a web design project. We have 3 very good reasons why we’ve established this policy over time:

1. Ideas are worthless. When a client requests to sign an NDA right off the bat, that usually means they think a lot of their ideas in and of themselves. Generally speaking that means they have the wrong attitude towards developing a business.

2. Signing an NDA early on is a total waste of every one’s precious time. Your time is very valuable. You want to know whether or not this client/project is serious and a good fit for your company and the initial discovery phase is primordial. (more…)

Business Strategies In Tough Times – One Year In The Making

New Hourly Rates For Custom Web DesignExactly one year ago, as the economic recession was hitting the US economy, we published what we believed were top business strategies in tough times. The main idea was that it is possible to take advantage of a difficult economic period to boost a business and bring it to the next level. And here we are a year later, after many successful projects and start-ups, I think we can say that these strategies worked well for us!

One thing that was important for us during this past year, was to keep our hourly rates low in order to maintain our business flow while providing clients the ability to get cutting edge web solutions without necessarily having a huge budget. This policy gave us the opportunity to work on a wide variety of interesting and challenging projects, and to boost our web design company to become one of the most demanded web design and web development companies out there. The Best Approach In A Creative Business Is Based On Flexibility

Web Design ApproachRecently, one of our clients asked me how is it possible for us to make major business/vendor decisions without submitting a web design proposal, document or contract stating the scope and assumptions of the project? Here are some extracts from my reply: (more…)

Professional Web Design Proposal Template

Web Design ProposalHere is our new post in the web design company resources series where I’m giving out material that we use on a daily basis here to run our state-of-the-art web design company from our New York location! This time, I am attaching a great web design proposal template in a MS Word format!

To tell the truth, we don’t really submit proposals anymore as we try to minimize paperwork, specifications documents, scope documents, and other things that just make everyone waste time, talk in the air about things that can’t really be planned in a creative process such as features, goals, milestones etc.

Rather, we work with an iteration process which is much more efficient, powerful, real, and in general produces results rather than bullshit documents. So instead of spending a week discussing a specs document back and forth and finalizing a proposal for a website project, we spend 1 day drafting a few design concept for the landing page and take it from there. In a week of work, we’ll already have the main design approved for the beta launch, and most of the design concepts for the entire project. (more…)

Why I Passed On a $120K Project

Web design project budgetA couple of weeks ago, I passed on a project with a potential client who wanted to work with us on the development of his web start-up business. Technologically the project was quite interesting as it involved a few challenging aspects as well as a relatively wide array of professional skills. Overall, the project was a perfect match for our web development company and it would be basically impossible for this client to find another web development firm with the necessary set of skills to complete the project in a professional manner. Our Own Latest Web Design Projects

Web Design ProjectsWe’re one of the most productive web design company out there and every once in a while it’s nice to look back at some of our achievements. So here is a short list of projects we recently launched (these are our own projects – not clients’ projects):

Website Temple – our best achievement so far! It took us a year of hard work to launch this innovative web start-up. Not only did we complete the design and development of Website Temple itself – but we also designed all the websites available in Website Temple’s library! More than 100 cutting edge, state-of-the-art websites! Including business websites, Flash websites, Ecommerce websites, social networking websites, and more! Oh and did I mention that all the sites come with an extensive (yet very easy to use!) Content Managment System to edit and customize the site?

Magento Expert – our latest project! We are planning on launching this very exiting niche website today or tomorrow! Magento Expert is a store for everything Magento, from premium Magento themes, to Magento extensions and custom services. The site also also makes easily available all the quality free Magento themes available today, as well as the best free Magento extensions and widgets.

The Web Design Gallery – our own web design gallery which is mainly populated with user contributions. It’s a great gallery to browse sites for inspiration and for website owners who want to improve their search engine ranking with inbound linking.
