It’s Easier To Scroll Than To Click

Web Design ScrollHere is a question that is often asked by clients and web designers alike: Should you try to avoid scroll whenever possible and make your web design fit on most computer screens? Or should you have longer web pages automatically depending on the native browser scroll? As a general rule don’t try to avoid scrolls. But on the other hand it is essential that you make your main design element fit within the page. Let me explain: (more…)

Good Web Design Is All About Achieving Your Goals

Web Design GoalsA very common mistake many web designers make when designing a website is that they focus on the design too much. Every website has a set of goals that is specific to that website. And the design of the website should focus solely on achieving these goals! In most cases, that doesn’t include showing off the designers web design skills or the developer’s web programming skills!

For Ecommerce websites one of main goals is conversion – i.e. how many visits are converting into sales. I don’t care if the website is horrible, old school,  confusing, outdated, or even if it has bugs – as long as it achieves the business goals! In this case, as long as the web design converts! Who cares if AJAX was used or if you have a Flash 3D innovative element that was nearly impossible to pull off if it has nothing to do with the website’s goals. (more…)

Web Design Decision For Website Temple Home Page

I’ve been playing around with the design of Website Temple’s home page, and I thought it’d be interesting to share a few of the variations I came up with for the design of the main Flash element.

I am not looking for a brand new design so the variations are just slightly different. I am looking to see which version will increase the site’s retention rate and conversion rate. Which design do you think will perform best? (more…)

Our Own Latest Web Design Projects

Web Design ProjectsWe’re one of the most productive web design company out there and every once in a while it’s nice to look back at some of our achievements. So here is a short list of projects we recently launched (these are our own projects – not clients’ projects):

Website Temple – our best achievement so far! It took us a year of hard work to launch this innovative web start-up. Not only did we complete the design and development of Website Temple itself – but we also designed all the websites available in Website Temple’s library! More than 100 cutting edge, state-of-the-art websites! Including business websites, Flash websites, Ecommerce websites, social networking websites, and more! Oh and did I mention that all the sites come with an extensive (yet very easy to use!) Content Managment System to edit and customize the site?

Magento Expert – our latest project! We are planning on launching this very exiting niche website today or tomorrow! Magento Expert is a store for everything Magento, from premium Magento themes, to Magento extensions and custom services. The site also also makes easily available all the quality free Magento themes available today, as well as the best free Magento extensions and widgets.

The Web Design Gallery – our own web design gallery which is mainly populated with user contributions. It’s a great gallery to browse sites for inspiration and for website owners who want to improve their search engine ranking with inbound linking.

Ecommerce Web Design & Development With Magento

MagentoMagento is a great platform to design and develop Ecommerce websites. We’ve been working with Magentosince the early days when the platform just came out in early 2008 and have been using it since then. We’ve worked on countless projects that involved customizing Magento, desigining Magento themes, further developing the Magento platform, etc… And we’ve gone a long way! Looking back at some of our Ecommerce projects, I thought it’d be interesting to share 3 web design projects which I feel were defining moments in our Magento development carreer!

1. Our first Magento project was for a company named “Ironwood Communications” which was bought by Direct TV following the successfull launch of the Ecommerce site we developed for them. Check out the project case.

2. After hundreds of Ecommerce web design projects, quickly implementing top quality Magento stores and providing deep Magento customization became like a second nature for us. So we were able to focus more on the promotion aspects of the websites we launched, particularly with SEO. Check out the Magento site we implemented in about 1 week for the largest Tsurumi Pump distributor in the USA!

3. We used Magento on our latest web start-up! We wanted Website Temple to be a cutting edge Ecommerce-based website that would be prepared for growth and we chose the Magento platform to base our work on. It ended up being a very smart move!
