Simple Tip To Make Your Life At Work More Enjoyable

Customer SupportFor many people, providing customer support is a real pain. Answering customer’s questions or helping out with all kinds of issues customers are having with your product can be tedious. As you have more customers, you’ll have more support requests to handle – and some customers can be very harsh. That’s the reality of the support job.

Of course you can greatly reduce dealing with difficult customers by choosing the right clients and targeting to the right market pool. But really your approach to customer service can make all the difference in your daily work and you may even end up enjoying responding to those support requests! (more…)

Any Web Design Project Has A Debugging Phase

DebuggingDebugging is a normal part of web design and development. What’s unclear about that? Web developers don’t “create bugs”, or “make mistakes”. It’s just the way it goes. I’ll explain more about that below but for now consider this simple analogy:

When you write a book or a paper – you don’t expect the publisher to publish your first submission, do you? Your copy will go through series of edits, corrections, error fixing, rephrasing, rearranging, proof reading, etc… Often this phase can take longer than the time it originally took you to write the paper or book itself! That’s the way it goes. (more…)

When You Deliver The News Makes All The Difference

Business NewsI’ve noticed how much of a difference you can make in how a business runs simply by knowing when it is the most appropriate to deliver the news. As a rule of thumb, always deliver the bad news on Fridays and the good news on Tuesdays. Your business will run that much more smoothly!

Delivering the bad news on Friday lets people have the weekend to digest it. And announcing the good news on Tuesday has a lasting effect throughout the week. Don’t deliver anything on Mondays though – it gets lost with all the other stuff people have to deal with at the beginning of the week.

A great application of this principle is knowing when to invoice your clients! (more…)

Understand Your Customers – Don’t Listen To Them

SatisfactionYou can’t listen to your customers. That’s the secret to fostering customer satisfaction.

Customers will always ask for “more”. More features, more options, more mockups, more more more. Listening to these requests will not create satisfaction because more features means more complexity, more options means more clutter, and more mockups means more waste and confusion. I don’t mean that you shouldn’t keep the communication channels open between you and your customers. I mean to ignore these requests ‘as is’ and focus on understanding your customers needs and behavior in order to create a better product, a better design, and provide a better service. Your customers will thank you for it and you’ll foster satisfaction. (more…)

Business Strategies In Tough Times – One Year In The Making

New Hourly Rates For Custom Web DesignExactly one year ago, as the economic recession was hitting the US economy, we published what we believed were top business strategies in tough times. The main idea was that it is possible to take advantage of a difficult economic period to boost a business and bring it to the next level. And here we are a year later, after many successful projects and start-ups, I think we can say that these strategies worked well for us!

Good Customer Service Will Go A Long Way

Good Customer ServiceToo many entrepreneurs and start-up developers are focused on creating “the next big thing”. Too many are trying to get a big pay check from some venture capital firm, or are hoping to get purchased for a huge amount by Google (a la Youtube).

Basically too many businessmen are playing the lottery and not enough are working towards developing good sustainable businesses, growing good ideas and providing value to customers while turning a profit.  There is nothing intrinsically wrong in playing the lottery but I don’t think this is a very constructive approach, both on an individual level and on a market level.
