New Blog Dedicated To Ultimento And Ecommerce

New Ultimento BlogJust a quick note to introduce our new blog dedicated to the Ultimento project – check it out at ultimento.com/blog!

With our Ultimento product growing so fast and new versions being released all the time, I thought Ultimento started taking too much attention on our company blog.

Product updates is not really the main focus for this blog and I wanted to keep it clean and dedicated to insights, tips, resources, and stories on business, web, and entrepreneurship ;) . (more…)

Friendly URL For A Google Search Result Page

Google Search ResultsHow often did you send someone links to Google Search pages? We send and receive Google links in emails, chats, blogs, and other media. Usually the link will look something like this:

http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=noam+design&aq=f&aqi=g1&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=CTyO163X8S5iMIpTuzASs6pieBQAAAKoEBU_Qv5Gd&fp=754b7f73eb24aff

That’s pretty ugly. Of course the anchor to the link can be anything you want. Like “Noam Design on Google”. But the link itself will look like the example above: a long URL which contains many parameters you don’t necessarily want to include.

So what’s the URL structure to link to a Google Search page?

All you need is this… (more…)

Tweet Button Reset To Zero

Tweetmeme Retweet ButtonWhen we changed our blog’s URL structure all the counts on our “tweet” buttons got reset to zero.

Changin the URL structure on your blog is a painful process but we decided it was a necessary change for the greater good! Unfortunately there is no work around the fact that you’ll lose your tweet counts displayed by the Tweetmeme button since the script counts the tweets based on the permalink URLs. Once the permalink structure changes, it’s basically like if you had completely new posts and pages all together, even if you have permanent re-directions setup properly. (more…)

Better Blogging – Or Is It?

Writing good blog posts can mean many different things. I like to have at least 50% of the posts we publish be “high quality” posts which provide a “real” value to our readers. I’m not talking about distributing free products (even though that’s great and we do it all the time). I’m talking about these posts that are a bit longer, are formatted nicely to make it easier to read, have a nice illustration or picture, and mainly deliver a really valuable content.

These posts take 90% of the time we spend on writing. Is it worth it? (more…)

Working While Traveling – And Vice Versa

travelingI spent the month of March traveling in Costa Rica and though it was pretty much business as usual during that time I didn’t write any new posts while I was away.  Blogging can be really easy but when you drink fresh coconut water all day, your priorities end up naturally changing!

All the hard work we’ve done over a period of a few months before I left really paid off. By putting together our virtual office setup and our remote work environment, we created a context that made it possible for me to travel without compromising on our company work. I’ve learned a lot in the process and I’ll make sure to share with you here how we setup our virtual office, which tools we’re using, and how we now get better work done than ever  before. So make sure to grab the RSS feed or to follow us on Twitter

Everyday while in Costa Rica I spent some time working on my laptop at internet cafes near where I was staying at the time. I was collaborating with my team mates, communicating with customers, and getting great work done! Working and traveling can definitely co-exist – you just need to have the right tools.

Blogging Made Easy With Posterous

If you’re wondering why we suddenly slowed down posting awesome posts on our blog, it’s because things have been particularly hectic here and the company is going through a lot of great changes! I’ll make sure to post about our evolution, the lessons learned, etc… But for now I thought it’d be appropriate to share a great tool that makes blogging super easy!

Posterous is a dead simple way to blog. When you’re particularly swamped with work or other things, that doesn’t mean you should stop your company’s social networking efforts! All you have to do is email - check it out

Post Number 100 Of Our Web Design Blog

In just 2 years of doing business, Noam Design has become one of the leading web design companies in New York, has completed hundreds of successful projects for clients of all sizes and industries (many of them won web design awards), and has launched a number of innovative web start-ups of its own. All this while working under the constraints of a small business that made it without any investment. Yes, we have accomplished a lot with our talent, determination, confidence, and lots of hard work!

We launched our web design company blog just about 1 year after it all started – so a year ago (the first post is dated 11/18/08). And this is our post number 100! So over the past year, we published an average of 2 posts per week.

To celebrate we added a couple of additional sharing options on our blog: try them out by clicking on the Tweet button, Facebook icon, Delicious icon, or Digg icon above!

How To Write Good Blog Posts

Web Design BirdI’ve seen this happen many times over!
Companies have great intentions on keeping up with their blogs and online social networking efforts, regularly adding great articles, updating their Twitter statuses, etc… But then  after a few weeks, these tasks become somewhat of a burden and they start investing less and less in these efforts. Well, the thing about Inbound Marketing (i.e. promoting your site using blogs, social engines, search engines, etc…) is that the results won’t happen overnight. You can get great results over time, but you need to consistently invest in promotion efforts, content creations, etc…

The problem starts when you try to come up with great articles to post on your blogs, and think about writing a new post as one of the many tasks you need to accomplish. Inevitably, this approach leads to procrastination, until one day keeping up with your Inbound Marketing efforts become another line at the bottom of your long to-do list.

So how can you quickly and easily create new and interesting content for your blog and Twitterstatuses? The answer is rather simple – write about what you do! You do all kinds of things everyday. And a lot of what you do would be very interesting to your company’s readers and followers. Don’t plan too much – just write something about what you did lately, or found interesting yourself. Share a great resource you use, talk about a design update you finished, mention something that happened within the team you work with, talk about how your company was interviewed, or spread the news about a new project that your company launched. Better yet – give something for free!

These are all interesting posts that generate a lot of traffic and interest to our web design company. And if really you have nothing to say at all, well you can always link to the latest post on our blog! So stay tuned.
