State Of Magento Expert – A Year In The Making

Our Magento Expert project is really thriving! Here’s a screen-shot from Google Analytics – see the nice growth curve since we launched the project less than a year ago?

This is how the site works:

For professional Magento developers

Magento companies promote their businesses by being in direct contact with Magento users who need their help, and by adding quality inbound links to their own websites.

For Magento users

Ecommerce owners and Magento users get quick answers to their Magento questions and help their store’s SEO at the same time if they include links to their Magento stores in their questions or comments.

It’s like a forum – but much better!

There’s now a wealth of Magento questions already answered on the site and since everything is easy to search and browse, the entire community benefits from it.

How we use Magento Expert:

One of the great ways to use this platform is to provide public support on Magento products – which is exactly what our Magentist branch does with its Magento themes and Magento extensions:

Use it as a dedicated support forum

Instead of having to answer the same questions over and over, we can simply direct customers to the forums where they can either find information on what they’re looking for, or ask new questions.

Grow your Magento business

When we respond to new questions, not only we help our customers and the entire Magento community (for free), but we also promote our Magento business by improving our site’s SEO with inbound links, and generating quality traffic from the Magento community.

Other Magento businesses can also use the site in the exact same way and gain tons of exposure from a site that has a very high search engine ranking.

Can we make money directly from the site?

One thing I haven’t figured out yet is if there’s a way to monetize the site itself. I’m committed to keeping it 100% free and I have no interest in advertising crumbs. But I’m wondering if the site can generate its own income… Any thoughts?
