On Monday, May 25, our Web Design Compay will be closed for memorial day and most of our team will enjoy the long weekend – hopefully with nice weather! Some of us however just can’t stop working…

For the past 7-8 months, I have been working intensively on a new online business called Website Temple. After a whole lot of working weekends and nights, together with our super talented team of designers and developers, we are getting closer than ever to the launch of our new venture! We will annouce the launch here so stay tuned with our web design blog.

Starting a business is hard work. There is a lot to do not only to make the business work, but to do things like register trademarks, find an accountant, hire a lawyer, choose web hosting, write a business plan and all the other nitty gritty of getting things started. So I’ll be working this weekend as usual – drop me a line in the comments to keep me company!

In such uncertain times as we’ve endured over the past year, businesses and consumers alike have been tightening their belts; economizing, trimming luxuries, and reducing to the bare minimum.

Over the past couple of years, our web design company has vastly become an online marketing agency as we’ve been providing extensive SEO and web promotion services, and developed countless succesful marketing campaign strategies. I would say that at least 50% of our ressources are allocated towards SEO services, business marketing and advertisement.

While designing a website for a business, a web design company must coordinate its web design and web development approach with the overall SEO and marketing strategy  of the company. 

One of the most important aspects of marketing can be summarized with this parragraph I once read in a book:

Web design companies can make a difference on the planet. Every time we make a positive choice, we can make a huge difference not only on our immediate environment, but even on a much larger scale.

Let me give you one small example. When thinking about the recession and its consequences on some people, you might dab a few tears with a facial tissue. Or since you want to come to work even when you’re sick, you might use the tissues in the office to deal with a runny or stuffed-up nose. But the tissue you reach for can make a difference! The Natural Resources Defense Council has calculated that if every household in the United States replaced just one box of conventional facial tissues (175 count) with 100% recycled ones, together we could save 163,000 trees for our children’s world. Web design is an industry that may not generate as much pollution as some other fields. However, since its inception, Noam Design has made continuous efforts to be a role model eco-friendly company, reusing material (such as bags), reducing waist, recycling, and more. All of our computers are Energy Star compliant, all of our paper is made out of 100% recycled paper, we use reusable mugs and ceramic cups instead of plastic cups, the furniture we use is environment friendly, etc. We try to make our offices and practices as friendly as possible for the planet.

We at Noam Design believe that U.S. businesses must play a key role in the protection of the environement. We have joined other environmental leaders in contributing to effective strategies for combating climate change and other effects of pollution.

From the very beginning, our team has been an eclectic mix of personalities and different backgrounds. But we all share a deep respect for the world outside of the virtual marketplace that we work in. Web design is a field that attracts many creative minds. But ideas represent only a fraction of all the factors that make a business successful… My position here at Noam Design involves scoping out clients’ projects to see if they could be a good fit for our company’s skills – from website design and development, through SEO, web promotion, web marketing, and business strategy. So I am in touch with hundreds of clients who contact us every month, and for the past 2 years I have heard it all! More than once we have been contacted to create a professional Ecommerce website with only a $2000 or $3000 budget! And not to mention how many times I have been asked to sign an extensive Non Disclosure Agreement before the clients would “reveal” the nature of their “innovative” project. That project being building a new Craigslist, combined with the features of MySpace, YouTube , and eBay – with a budget of only a few thousand dollars. As you can see, such information is highly sensitive and needs to be protected by a strict NDA! Though this type of scenario is very typical, it is not always the case and there are sometimes some truly innovative ideas that are worth considering. (more…)
