Web Statistics are very important for businesses, website owners, and web design companies. Which Web Browser is the most used? Internet Explorer? Firefox? Which are the most common browsers? The latest known browser statistics are shown below (USA & Canada):
| Firefox | IE7 | IE6 | Google Chrome | Safari | Opera | Mozilla Suite | Others |
| 44.2% | 26.6% | 20.0% | 3.1% | 2.7% | 2.3% | 0.4% | 0.7% |
Statistics Are Often Misleading
Global averages may not always be relevant to your web site. Different sites attract different audiences. Some web sites attract professional developers using professional hardware, while other sites attract the users using old low spec computers.
Also be aware that many statistics may have an incomplete or faulty browser detection. It is quite common by many web-stats report programs, not to detect the newest browsers.
The average user may tend to use Internet Explorer, since it comes preinstalled with Windows. Though one would think that most users would not seek out other browsers, Firefox is becoming the single most used browser. That’s good news for web design companies, web designers, and web developers everywhere!
Additional Important Web Statistics:
Screen Resolution Statistics very important to any web design company!
JavaScript and Flash Statistics – extremely important too for web design companies
Operating System Statistics – the windows family counts for over 90% of all operating systems
I hope you find these web statistics useful! More is coming so stay tuned.
